The Albanian letter ë often sounds like the relaxed “uh” sound in the English word “about”. Linguists call it a schwa. Keep your mouth relaxed and make the sound short.
Try these three words
- nënë — mother
- shtëpi — house
- është — is
At the end of some words, ë can become very soft in everyday speech. Do not force it. Listen first, then copy the rhythm of the whole word rather than isolating one letter.
A useful practice habit
Record yourself saying one short phrase, listen once and repeat it more slowly. Clear rhythm matters more than a perfect accent. Confidence grows through repetition.
